The last day of September counts as the September blog doesn’t it? This month has absolutely flown by! We’ve blinked and the month has disappeared. I’ve been incredibly busy with orders and all things cake, which has been fantastic. I am absolutely loving continuing to create the videos and everyone gets to see what I get up to when I’m decorating. My husband thinks I should go one step further and film my cleaning and preparation routines as well, but I disagree – people might think I have serious issues with extreme cleanliness and perhaps a little OCD? All I do know is, I definitely should have shares in the glove industry with the amount I go through though!! Why the gloves all the time you ask? Well, I don’t want people touching food that I eat with their bare hands, so why would I want to touch your food? Granted, hygiene is slightly better at the moment (thanks COVID-19) but still, I have trust issues – or maybe I just have issues in general….
Anyway, apart from all of that I have also been quite slack with my membership with the ACDN Business Lounge. I missed last month’s Zoom session as I thought it was on the Thursday (which was the day the cake course had been on) and then I completely forgot about this month’s! I completed both modules though and I am enjoying exploring different aspects of developing my business and the direction that I want to go in the future. I am looking forward to next month’s module and I will be present for it (I promise)!
Having children has been a fantastic opportunity to test out new things I want to try when it comes to cakes and decorating, but having friends with kids also has been awesome! I’m always being asked to create amazing pieces of art and I’m loving every second of it. I’ve got multiple cakes coming up in October that I have freedom with, which I think is when my best work comes out (tickets much?), but I’m super excited to give different styles a go and try new things – life is all about learning and adapting and I love doing different things all the time. Repetition is not my friend, and nor do I want it to be. Change is good, otherwise life gets boring and you don’t look forward to it. I made a cake just this week using black buttercream for the first time, and it was epic! I’ve always feared black buttercream because I don’t like using much dye, however I used the Cakers Warehouse Black Cocoa in it instead and OMG, if you like Oreos, then you’ll be in heaven. Not only did it taste like Oreos, but it was black and ahhhhmazing! My colour all the way! So I’m definitely looking forward to making more black cakes in the future as well as trying anything new.
There are plenty more videos and photos to come – if I get a moment to sit and edit all the filming of course – until then, eat cake and enjoy life ♡
